Sam Illman

1, Name, Age and Location?

Sam Illman, 22 years old and I live in the S.E Suburbs of Melbourne.

2, When did you start riding BMX and what got you into it?

I used to skate when I was about 14, but living on a country farm where the closest park was a 45 min drive sucked! So I bought a bmx when I was 15 and just built little trails around our farm. Was hard having no one to ride with but I’m glad I stuck to it!

3, Tell us about your current bike setup?

At the moment I have a Pilgrim Unit 20.8 frame with Colony parts, profile wheels. Wide bars, no brakes, 3/4 pegs, high front end and short back end.

4, Favorite place you have ever visited and why?

I’ve moved around a lot the last couple of years, every place I’ve been has been amazing as well as the people. Bondi beach in Sydney would be a standout I guess. The park, beach, girls and the dudes I was there with were perfect.

5, How would you describe your style of riding?

I think it’s changed a little lately because I’ve been grinding a lot! I just try to stay smooth when I can.

6, What else are you into outside BMX?

Photography, filming, buying hats/shoes and just of late trying to stay fit.

7, Where do you spend most of your time on your bike,

Usually with the Focalpoint crew riding street or at The Shed where I work.

8,  What are you into more web edits or contest? Where do you get your buzz?

Definitely filming. Seeing a new clip of one of the dudes I ride with killing it is the best, gets me pumped to try new stuff and ride with them!

9, How did you meet John Buultjens?

I think I met John when I filmed Caleb Johnson an edit a while ago. He met up with me to hook me up with some stuff for filming!

10, Finish this sentence, one day…….

I’d love to travel overseas anywhere wether it be for riding or just hanging out and looking at how they live compared to us in Aus.
